- A quick, 5-10 minute call is free; however, longer than that tends to evolve into a therapy session, thus the standard Session Fee would apply at that point.
Most, if not all, insurance companies are Managed Care Companies created to “manage” and contain escalating healthcare costs; often restricting your choice of therapist and offering only short term/brief therapy that may fail to afford you the opportunity to get the therapy that you want or need. By contracting with a Managed Care Company, it is likely that I would be required to share your deeply personal information with utilization professionals that could potentially allow literally hundreds of others to have access to your personal information. This means that they require a diagnosis of mental illness for my clients.
Because I do not bill insurance, we can avoid all of the above issues. I can provide a receipt for services rendered if you need one.
Expectations of Appointments
I am available to work with you at regularly scheduled appointment times. Reserving a regular standing appointment time works well with my clients’ schedules. Following this, we will meet weekly for a 50 minute session for a while and then may gradually taper off to less frequent appointments as progress continues. An appointment is a commitment to our work together. We agree to meet and to be on time. If I am ever unable to start on time, it will most likely be an emergency and I will ask for your understanding and assure you that you will receive the full time agreed to.
If you think you may have trouble paying your fees on time, please discuss this with me. If this occurs, I will also raise the matter with you so we can arrive at a solution. If there is any problem with my charges, or any other money-related point, please bring it to my attention. I will do the same with you. Such problems can interfere greatly with our work. They must be worked out openly and quickly. If your bill remains unpaid for an excessive amount of time, I am required to stop therapy with you. Fees that continue unpaid after this will be turned over to small-claims court or a collection service. In the event that it is necessary to commence proceedings to collect money owed for professional services rendered, you will be expected to pay reasonable collection costs and fees incurred, including but not limited to attorney’s fees.
Cash, check and all major credit cards accepted for payment.
I consider our meetings very important and ask that you do the same for continuity of your care and delay our work. When you cancel, please give me at least 24 hours notice as I may be able to fill a cancelled session with another client I may have on a waiting list. You may be charged a $50 fee if the cancellation is not made 24 hours in advance, unless there are circumstances that constitute an emergency or sudden onset of illness.
